The journey of a thousand RPMs....

Welcome to the VF Power Pedal Ride for Rare Diseases Blog.

The idea for this blog is to allow our friends to join us as we prepare for what we are hoping is a ride of a lifetime.

After leaving Pittsburgh on June 24, we are going to end our ride hopefully in front of the Capitol Building where we will hand over a petition signed by hundreds of rare disease patients, caregivers, and doctors all asking that more monies be devoted to rare disease research and awareness.

We created this blog to chronicle our trip (we will post daily updates from the trail). We will also share HOW we're preparing through postings, photos, and video clips.

However it's not so much about us, but the greater cause of why we're doing this event.

You will learn in upcoming posts:
  • What is vasculitis and what resources are available to patients through the Vasculitis Foundation

  • Other rare diseases (maybe you heard on the show, "HOUSE" ) that affect millions of people in the U.S.

  • How the National Institute of Health plays a vital role in the research and education of these are diseases
We'll do our best to keep the daily postings short, entertaining, informative, and hopefully interesting enough to have you follow us.

We welcome all comments and feedback. Just like us getting ready for the ride this blog is a work in progress. Share your thoughts, critiques, and ideas.

Enjoy the ride..
