Saturday Ride: Chris and Ed

On Saturday, Chris and I went for a short training ride from Station Square to the point at which the trail is blocked off just before Sandcastle.

Although she thought it was tough, Chris did really well considering we had a stiff wind in our face for much of the ride.

We stopped at REI on the Southside to do some shopping. They have some decent sales going on right now. Check out some of their specials on biking shorts and windbreakers.

We rode a few miles coming up right to the point where the trail ends. How do you go on and pick up the trail miles down the road? Your options seem to be limited to riding along the railroad tracks, or getting your bike up onto the highway. On bike day we will have the SAG vehicles waiting to pick up all those people who want to avoid riding the bike on the highway.

It's really a beautiful stretch of trail as you ride along the river with a spectacular view of the city scape. There seemed to be few people out on the trail, but the wind and threatening sky may have kept the trail quiet.
More likely, most everyone else was watching the Pens in that incredible game on Saturday.

Our training rides continue. Mary and I are hoping to log 30 miles this week. If I can break that benchmark I'll be pleased.

We also started our spinning class on Friday. All I can say is that we survived the first class. Personally 45 in a spinning class is tougher than 25 miles on the bike trail.

Happy Trails..

  1. Chris,

you're going to do great! I've watched this video three times now because it makes me smile! You are an inspiration.

You might want to raise your seat a little bit Chris. Your pedaling efficiency and butt will be much better. Your knees will thank you too.

    Awesome work you guys!
