On Sunday six of us did our third training ride from Cedar Creek to Connellsville. Our goal was to make it 40 miles. We exceeded it by a few extra miles.
Overall a nice trip. It started out hot and sunny, but ended cooler with light rain on the way home.
Observations along the way:
- No foolin', there are actually snakes along the way. If you just follow the old chestnut, "Don't tread on me" you will be fine. It's just a good reminder to keep your eyes on the road ahead. And use a loooooooong lense.
- We went past a house that has a Coke machine out in the front yard. Ingenious. I'm not sure it's working, but what a great idea. I'm sure you could clean up from riders on days like this one.
- Check out the nice little campground just outside of Connellsville. A general store with stuff to quench your thirst, fight off a snack attack, or make some new travelling friends.
- Fortunately we have Captain Clem manning the weather desk back at the home office. Cap'n Clem has about a decade worth of experience sailing so he knows how to read a weather map pretty good. It was helpful to be able to call him and find out exactly what was blowing our way. Nothing too much...just enough rain to make us cool off.
